    Description

    Here is a charming
    PAIR
    of
    commemorative portrait dolls
    ,
    "Gen. George and Martha Washington"
    ,
    circa 1930
. each standing 12" tall, and wearing all their elaborate original clothing and accessories (note their wonderful powdered wig details). They both have quite pleasant, nicely molded and painted features including side-glancing, brown eyes,
    eyelashes
and closed mouths (molded hair beneath their wigs). Made of sturdy composition with
    spring-jointed
arms and legs they are both complete in their detailed costumes and fabulous white wigs (hers in long curls and his in pony tail with black tie). Martha wears a long pink, polished cotton gown with lace trimmed, puff sleeves and neckline beneath her fitted, flower printed jacket with full, lace trimmed peplums, "V" waist and pink, lace trimmed pantalettes.
George also wears his complete original colonial costume of dark blue, brushed cotton, fitted breeches, fully lined, matching fitted, cutaway jacket with lapels and tails and white shirt with lace jabot and lace cuffs. Both wear original black leatherette shoes and original knit stockings. Both dolls are in excellent condition with no stains or holes, no repairs or repaint and no odors and from a smoke free home. (loc 39) They have some paint cracks beneath their wigs and two paint cracks (not composition) on Marth's face by her nose.
